Tournament & Field 🏆
The PGA Tour wraps up the FedEx Cup Fall Series this week as players head to Sea Island Resort on Saint Simons Island, Georgia for The RSM Classic. For many in the field, this is the final chance to lock up a PGA Tour card for the 2026 season, with only the Hero World Challenge (limited-field event), Grant Thornton Invitational (PGA/LPGA team event), and Q-School tournament left on the calendar. It’s also the last standard TOUR event of the year — and the final PGA newsletter until January — so get your DFS fix while you can!
Because daylight is at a premium this time of year, The RSM Classic is played across two courses: the Par 70 Seaside Course and the Par 72 Plantation Course. Everyone will see both tracks over the first two rounds before the cut, with the weekend shifting exclusively to Seaside. This is a full 156-player field with the traditional top-65-and-ties cut in play, and it’s arguably the strongest lineup we’ve seen all fall, with 28 players inside the DataGolf top 100. Best of luck this week — we’ll pick things back up in January when the big guns return!

The Course Preview ⛳
The Seaside Course
Golfers who make it past the cut will play three total rounds on The Seaside Course (Par 70, 7,055 yards), so this is the track that deserves most of our attention. It’s the only one of the two with full ShotLink data, and most of the TV coverage tends to be focused here. As a traditional Par 70, it features twelve Par 4s, four Par 3s, and just two Par 5s — meaning Par 4 scoring will be a key separator, as is usually the case on layouts like this.
The fairways are wider than average but bottleneck the closer you get to the green, and missed fairways can lead to some very penal recovery shots. Because of that, many players will club down off the tee, especially if the winds pick up. Proper placement into the smaller landing zones is crucial for setting up manageable approach shots.
The Bermuda greens are on the smaller side, so golfers who can get creative around the greens will have a natural edge — everyone is going to miss their share of GIRs out here. With this being an open, links-style coastal track, wind is the primary line of defense. However, wind conditions look to be very manageable this week, so the course is free to attack.
The Plantation Course (Thursday/Friday Only)
The Plantation Course (Par 72, 7,060 yards) will only be played once — Thursday or Friday for each golfer — and historically plays one to two strokes easier than Seaside. With four Par 5s and more tree-lined fairways shielding golfers from coastal winds, this course is typically where players can pick up ground if their “Seaside round” doesn’t go overly well.
A redesign a few years back added some difficulty, but Plantation still comes in as the easier test in six of the past seven years. The Bermuda greens here are roughly 1,000 square feet smaller than those on Seaside, and the additional bunkers and water hazards demand tidy around-the-green play. Strong scrambling numbers should translate well on both courses.
Overall, neither track is overly punishing unless the weather turns, and scoring has reflected that. Last year, stronger winds over the first two rounds led to only a moderately low winning score of 16-under. However, in the seven years prior to 2024, winning totals had landed between 19-under and 29-under. Expect a cut line around three-under come Friday evening.

Weather & Tee Times ⛅
For anyone new to PGA DFS, we take a look at the weather to see if there is an advantage for golfers either teeing up Thursday morning/Friday afternoon (AM/PM wave) or for the guys starting their rounds Thursday afternoon/Friday morning (PM/AM wave). Your top priority in PGA DFS is to get 6-out-of-6 golfers in your lineups through the cut line and into the weekend – from there, anything can happen! If there is an edge to be had for either wave, it is important to take advantage!

⚖️Weather Verdict: It’s shaping up to be a great scoring week with light winds from start to finish. Mornings sit near 5mph on both Thursday and Friday, with only a minor uptick in the afternoons that still stays comfortably below 10mph. The weekend brings more of the same — calm early, a touch breezier late, but nothing that should impact scoring. With conditions this steady, there’s no meaningful wave edge or tee-time advantage to worry about.

RSM Classic DFS Model Standouts 🏅
Below are the top 25 ranked golfers in both my overall model and my key stats model. Below that are the top 25 leaders in average finishing position over the last five and last ten starts. The players ranked on these lists do not necessarily mean they are the top golfers I’m targeting for this week's event, but many of these guys should no doubt be favorable DFS options.
Overall Model Rank: A golfer’s ranking (within the current field) in my personal DFS model, which weighs all of the key stats listed above in this newsletter, as well as factors like course history, recent form, recent average fantasy scoring results, and odds to win.
Key Stat Rank: Provides a golfer’s overall rank (within the current field) in my "key stats only" model, which considers only the key stats listed in the section above with the specified percentage weights allocated towards each statistic.
