Club de Golf Chapultepec - Course Info ⛳️

This is the World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship tournament held in Mexico City. There is no cut for this tournament, which means you can take some more risks here without worrying about who will make the cut. Look for guys that can score fast and get hot with their putters. This course is at 7800 feet which means the ball goes very far and driving distance while important, is not a big deal here because everyone will be hitting it long. The course measures at 7,300 yards but really plays around 6500 yards after taking into account the elevation which means the drivers are going to be staying in the bag, so guys who haven't been able to hit the fairways with the driver lately will likely be breathing a sigh of relief this week.

The Weather should not play a part in the tournament like it did last week. It's going to range between sunny and partly cloudy all 4 days with winds below 10mph and a comfortable temperature in the high 70s.

Studs 🔥

Last Week: 2 for 3 making the cut, including first place Justin Thomas

  1. Dustin Johnson (DK: $11.9k, FD: $12.8k)It's hard not to get behind Dustin Johnson here, he won this tournament last year with 3 rounds in the 60's. His length means he'll be hitting a lot of irons and still having wedges into the greens. He's ranked first overall in putting over the last month which is a great spot to be when you're hitting wedges into these greens. If he starts rolling these putts in, he's going to be unstoppable this week.

  2. Justin Thomas (DK: $11.5k, FD: $12.5k)Justin Thomas has been Mr. Consistent this season, with 2 wins, and 3 top 10 finishes in 8 events with an average finish of 11th place. Thomas is ranked 3rd over the last month in putting which is going to be a key here. Generally I don't like taking guys who just secured a victory. However this 24 year old already has 8 wins on tour already and he knows how to keep the momentum going.

  3. Rickie Fowler (DK: $9.8k, FD: $11.7k)Look for Rickie to bounce back this week after the miserable outing last week, it's an easy one for us and for him to write off due to the weather. He's shown he can bounce back after a bad outing, and this is definitely not an outing that he's going to linger on. He's all set to play up to the very high level of competition at this event as Rickie loves playing in these World Golf Championships. We may even get to secure Fowler at lower than usual ownership due to his dud last week, which makes him a great play this week.

Mid-Price Value Plays 💰

Reavie = Bargain with high upside, low downside

Bargain Barrel 🍀

Last Week: 2 of 3 made the cut. 2 of 3 was the magic number last week.

  1. Chez Reavie (DK: $8.1k, FD: $9k)Reavie is set to bounce back after his last poor outing at the Genesis Open (he was only 1 for 6 cuts made), an easy one to write off to just not liking a course. Reavie doesn't have the distance that most of the guys on tour have but he's been accurate so if he uses the driver more than other guys this week, he may fare just fine. His stats for the season and over the last month indicate he can play well on this course.

  2. Matthew Fitzpatrick (DK: $7.6k, FD: $9.4k)Matthew Fitzpatrick doesn't have a ton of PGA experience, but he does have multiple wins on the European Tour. Winning at any professional level breeds confidence so there is no doubt he believe he can win any PGA event he enters. He's played well on this course last year, finishing 16th and recording a 65 in the final round. He's likely to be fairly low owned as he doesn't have the name recognition as the other big guys here.

  3. Matt Kuchar (DK: $7.6k, FD: $10.5k)There is a pretty big gap in pricing between DraftKings and FanDuel here, so he's a much better bargain on DraftKings. Kuchar is a guy who plays up to the level of competition, which is very high this week. Kuchar has putting extremely well over the last month, and his driving distance into going to hurt him here. Kuchar will have plenty of scoring opportunities this week making him a good choice.

Avoids 🚫

It would not be a complete article if I didn’t tell you who I am avoiding. I like to go through and take guys out of the pool that I really don’t like THIS WEEK. Here are my 2 for this week.
